The ranch house sat on the lake, could open bedroom window and fish out of it. Moved to Iowa, the foreman kept telling that there was a total crop failure (stealing the crop profits). O.A. let the farm go for taxes. The foreman then bought the farm for the back taxes. Told of Jesse James staying in the barn quite often. Jesse was very popular with the people, since he helped the poor . The final straw that turned him into a outlaw was when the government threw his family off of the farm. Martin had little book learning, at the age of 40 he took a course in order to be able to better express himself by way of poetry and prose. He wrote his first poem at the age of 56, Jan. 27, 1912.
