Dr Alonson Bull COMSTOCK50 was born on 1 March 1818 in Near Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio, USA.51,52 Sec 30, P O Kirkville, was born in Franklin Co, OH, near Columbus, Mar 1,1818; came to Iowa Apr 9,1837, crossing the Mississippi at Fort Madison into what was then Wisconsin Territory; came to Richland Twp in the summer of 1843. The same season the country was opened for settlement, there being at that time twenty four familes besides his own in the township, and probably about four hundred inhabitants in the country. Married June 17,1838, at Bentonsport, Van Buren Co, to Sarah Ann Sullivan; born in Lincoln Co, Mo Jul 2,1821; had twelve children, six living. His first vote was cast for Harrison in 1836. Has always voted the Republican ticket until this fall; voted National. Represented his county in the first State Legislature. Had 2 sons in the army , one of whom was wounded with a musket-ball in the foot . Frank was mustered out of service as Lieutenant of cavalry.


Co. History: When 6 yr old moved to New Haven, Crosby Twp, Hamilton Co, OH. At 13 was sent to Augusta College in KY for 4 years. 1834 returned to New Haven, studied medicine under his father until 1837 when he came to Iowa Territory . Set up practice at Benton's post. On 6/17/1838 married Sarah Ann Sullivan. Moved to Chillocothe, IA in 1843. He lived Crosby Township in New Haven, Huron County, Ohio, USA about 1824. He was educated Medical School in 1830 in Augusta College, Augusta, Bracken County, Kentucky, USA. Alonson graduated in 1834 in Augusta College, Augusta, Bracken County, Kentucky, USA.53 Studied Medicine, Continued to study in his fathers office until moved to IA He appeared in the census in 1836 in Van Buren County, Iowa. He lived Benton's Post in Bentonsport, Van Buren County, Iowa, USA in April 1837.21 Started practicing Medicine - Bonita Scharff has waiting chairs from his office On 30 September 1837 Alonson was at Teacher in Rochester, Van Buren County, Iowa.54 In 1839 he was a Medical Doctor in Agency,Wapello County, Iowa, USA. 53. Sarah Ann SULLIVAN4,59 was born on 2 July 1821 in Indian Camp, near Keokuk, Iowa, USA.60 1st White child born in what is now State of Iowa. Born on north side of DesMoines River at an Indian encampment about 1/2 way between Sweet Home and St Francisville(which are on opposite sides of the river in Missouri, which is now in Lee County, IA) She appeared in the census in 1860 at Richland Twp in Wapello County, Iowa, USA. She appeared in the census in 1870 in Wapello County, Iowa, USA. Sarah died on 23 August 1900 at the age of 79 in Comstock Station, Wapello County, Iowa, USA. She has Ancestral File Number 27ST-8KW. Sarah Ann Sullivan was born July 2, 1821, on the north side of the Des Moines River, about half way between Sweet Home and St. Francisville (which are on the opposite side of the river in Missoru, which is now in Lee Couty, Iowa), and is claimed was the first white child born in what is now the State of Iowa.
