He died on 28 November 1838 at the age of 73 in Gahanna, Franklin County, Ohio, USA.11 Inturred in Riverside Cemetery He served in the military Drummer in Revolutionary war- discharged when British Officer scalped him in Maryand, BCA. BIO:Was a drummer in the Revolutionary War under Major Lansdell in the 6th Maryland Infantry. He was scalped by an English officer who tried to cut his head off, the sword glanced off of a tree limb (or his hand) and removed part of his scalp.

Veterans Admin, DC 09/12/1932 Reference 13a-J/Ill S.4413 3 Reference is made to your letter in which you request the record of John Denuin(French of Deneen), a soldier of the Revolutionary War. The data which follows are obtained from the papers on file in Pension claim, S.44133, based upon the service of John Denoon or Denune in that war.

John Denoon while a resident of Prince George's Co.,MD enlisted in March or April, 1780, served as a musician in Captain Henry Dobson's Company 6" Maryland Regiment and in Captain Edward Spice's(possible meant for Spurrier's) Company under Major Lansdale in the Maryland Troops, was in the battles of Camden, Guilford, Court House, Siege of Ninety-Six and Eutaw Sprints and was discharged in June, 1783; he received a wound in the hand during the above service, time and details not shown.

He was allowed pension on his application executed May 2,1818, while a resident of Franklin Co,OH, he was then Fifty-Seven years of age.

In 1820, the soldier gave the names of the following children who lived with him: Alexander Bond(13), Mary Anne(11), Lucy Washington (9), Sarah Ann(7), Jane Perry(5), Nancy Brown(3), Willa Harrison and Barbary Calf(?)(2). The name of the soldiers wife is not shown. The soldier died Nov 28,1838 . In 1850, the following children of the soldier were living: Eliza Bellinger, Lucy Alger, Susanah Stotts, Nancy Loy(Wife of Hiram Loy of Franklin Co,OH, and William, Alexander B, Caroline and Mary Ann Denune

Was wounded in the hand in the serv. Served until June 1783. Br 1761, France. Mar Sarah Burrell. One child was Alexander Burrell Denune. D. Nov 28, 18338, Franklin Co. OH. Age 77 yr. Bur Riverside Cem, Mifflin Twp. Sunbury Pike, near Linden Heights, OH, in Franklin Co. MI: "John Denune died Nov 28, 1838, aged 77 yrs." GM by descendants and D.A.R. Oct 16, 1927. Was from Prince George Co, MD. His name is on the Marble tablet of Rev Soldiers of Franklin Co in Memorial Hall Lobby, Columbus. Was pensioned in 1819 for serv as Pvt in MD Continental Line.
